Richard M. Lawson, M.D. is from Columbia. He graduated with honors from Clemson University with a B.S. in microbiology. He attended the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, returning to Columbia for his internship, residency, and fellowship at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. He is a member of the South Carolina Gastroenterology Association, the South Carolina Medical Association, the Lexington Medical Association, and the American Medical Association. He is currently serving on the Board of Trustees at Lexington Medical Center and was chief of staff, October 1992 - October 1994. Dr. Lawson joined the practice in 1985 and is board certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine.
S. Gabe Saleeby, M.D. is from Hartsville, S.C. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of South Carolina and cum laude from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine where he completed his internship, residency, and fellowship. He is a member of the South Carolina Gastroenterology Association, the South Carolina Medical Association, the Lexington Medical Association, the American College of Physicians, and the American College of Gastroenterology. He is chairman of the Clinical Quality Assurance Committee at Carolina Care Plan and serves as the South Carolina Gastroenterology representative on the Medicare Medical Advisory Committee. He joined the practice in 1991 and is board certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine.
March E. Seabrook, M.D. is from Anderson, S.C. Dr. Seabrook graduated cum laude from Wofford College with a B.S. in biology. He completed his medical training, internship, residency, and fellowship at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. Dr. Seabrook was instrumental in the organization of the South Carolina Gastroenterology Association and is currently past president. He has held many other positions and is an active member of the South Carolina Medical Association, the Lexington Medical Association, the American Medical Association, the American College of Gastroenterology, and the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review. Dr. Seabrook has a special interest in colorectal cancer prevention and is a Fellow with the American College of Gastroenterology (FACG). He joined the practice in 1991 and in board certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine.
Eric J. Heinzelmann, M.D. is from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He graduated cum laude from the University of Alabama with a B.S. in chemistry and the University of South Alabama School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency from the University of South Alabama Medical Center. He then attended the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, where he completed his gastroenterology fellowship. Prior to joining this medical group in 1996, Dr. Heinzelmann served as Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of South Carolina and was Chief of Gastroenterology at the Dorn VA Medical Center. Dr. Heinzelmann is a member of the South Carolina Gastroenterology Association, the South Carolina Medical Association, the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the American Medical Association. He is board certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine.
John W. Schaberg, M.D. was raised in a Navy family and lived on the East and West Coasts. He graduated from North Carolina State University with a B.S. in zoology and the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency from the University Medical Center of Eastern Carolina and then moved to Columbia where he completed his gastroenterology fellowship in June 2000. Dr. Schaberg is a member of the South Carolina Gastroenterology Association, the South Carolina Medical Association, the American Medical Association, American College of Physicians, American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the American Gastroenterological Association. He is board certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine.
Gene W. Stuart, MD is from Greenville, SC. He graduated from Duke University with a B.A. in political science and from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. He completed his residency at the University of Florida Health Science Center in Jacksonville, FL, and his fellowship at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, NC. He is a member of the American Gastroenterology Association, American College of Gastroenterology, American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, American Medical Association, South Carolina Medical Association and the South Carolina Gastroenterology Association. He joined the practice in 2001 and is board certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine.
Rajeev Vasudeva, MD was born in Cairo, Egypt. He received his medical education from the Government Medical College in Amritsar Punjab, India. He then moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where he did his residency and then to Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield, Illinois where he completed his fellowship. Most recently, Dr. Vasudeva was the Professor of Medicine and Director, Division of Digestive Diseases and Nutrition, at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. He is a member of the South Carolina Gastroenterology Association, the South Carolina Medical Association, the Association of Subspecialty Professors, the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Federation of Clinical Research, the American Gastroenterology Association, the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the Columbia Medical Society, and the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation. He is a Fellow with the American College of Gastroenterology (FACG) and is board certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine.
Vasa W. Cate, M.D. is a native of Columbia. He graduated from the University of South Carolina and the Medical University of South Carolina. He spent several years in the Navy where he did his gastroenterology training. Dr. Cate is a member of the South Carolina Gastroenterology Association, the South Carolina Medical Association, the American Medical Association, Lexington Medical Association, the American College of Physicians, and the American Society of Internal Medicine. He is a member of the South Carolina board of BB&T, and is a member and past president of the Lexington County Gamecock Club. Dr. Cate is a founding member of Consultants in Internal Medicine, which later changed it's name in 1991 to Consultants in Gastroenterology. He is board certified in Internal Medicine. Dr. Cate retired in May 2004.
